  • to enable others to explore how a citizen science initiative may be undertaken as a partnership with community.

Funded Years: 2019/20

Research Brief

Mobilising for Action co-lead Dr Marie McEntee joined with research and post-graduate colleagues from the University of Auckland School of Environment and with Kauri Rescue to tell the story of the Kauri Rescue citizen science project, in an interactive and immersive way.

Research Outcomes

A ‘story map‘ allows the viewer to navigate through the story of the Kauri Rescue citizen science project, to see kauri forests for themselves, hear experts explain kauri dieback and feel the love those in ‘kauri land’ have for their ngahere.

Collaboration between researchers, private landowners, community members and local councils lies at the heart of the Kauri Rescue story.
